Supported until you get to Exchange 2010.Įven then to use DB portability with 2010 it needs to be a 2010 database (not 2007 or 2003 or for that matter not even 2013 and to use database portability on a 2010 DB it needs to be done on a 2010 server within the same org that the previous server was, You are correct you CANNOT restore or use a 2003 EDB to a 2007 environment for several reasons, including the fact that 2007 is a 64 bit database and 2003 a 32 bit, the 2007 internals of the EDB also changed and more importantly database portability is not I then copy the DB files to the RSG folder, try to mount and presented with the above error. Only way around is the keep everything defaulted. To the ACTUAL DB that I copied over, it wont let me create the RSG. However, when I try to change this to point The Database path is pointing to the First Storage Groups Mailbox Database and the Recovery database path is pointing to the RSG folder. Under "Database folders and file names" shows Mailbox Database. I tried several times to point to the recovered database file, all failing on me. Upon creation, it asks for Transaction log folder, system folder and database folder. SO I decided to move the DB's to the First Storage Group directory, thinking I would be able to pull the correct database. When creating a new RSG, it mentions "only databases from the linked storage group can be mounted in the recovery storage group". The following error: Error code: MapiExceptionCallFailed: Unable to mount database. When attempting to mount im presented with the following error: Received If I do not, when I try mounting, it does not show the actual DB name that I copied into the RSG folder. I tried renaming the database to "Mailbox Database". Moved the DB to RSG folder and tried mounting. I am using the Microsoft Exchange Troubleshooting Assistant. I've followed these steps and other found online with no luck. Search, Recover, & Extract Mailboxes, Folders, & Email Items from Offline Exchange Mailbox and Public Folder EDB's and Live Exchange Servers or Import/Migrate direct from Offline EDB to Any Production Exchange Server, even cross version i.e. NOTE: IF by chance you have a system state (AD) backup for that SBS 2003 server you might be able to restore it in a test lab (not connected to your production network) and then do a disaster recovery installation of SBS 2003 You will be able to see all mailboxes and data. If you just want to see whats within you can download the product, you obtain a DEMO license and then We make a product called DigiScope that will allow you to mount the EDB and export or migrate data into a new Exchange implementation if desired. If you still had that server you may be able to mount the DB via the RSG but since the 2003 environment is no longer there you are going to have to rely upon a 3rd party Well since the old server was completely removed there is not much you can do.
